My Semi-Monthly Post
Boy, I'm going to have to get back in the habit of posting again. SL blogging has one inherent problem: you can either do something or write about doing something. Or, in my case, do nothing and not write about it. Either way.

I guess the most notable event in the last month or so, as far as I am concerned, was the grand opening of the Mo-Tech Industries storefront. I've been releasing minor trinkets under the Mo-Tech Industries brand name for over a year now, and I figured it's about time I created a store front for it all. Okay, I've had rental vendors before. I think I sold exactly 2 items in three months. I guess I should have advertised or something. This time, I'm ponying up the Lindens for Classifieds and Find listings. I may expand into other advertising venues when my stock grows sufficiently, but I don't see doing so until I have at least a few dozen or so items. We'll see.

The shop is mostly an attempt at justifying my hobbies here. It makes me feel like I'm not wasting my time when I spend hours on end tinkering with some new scripted toy. Now, when I come up with an idea, I can develop it into a finished product instead of just dumping in my Objects, Experimental folder and forgetting about it. It'll never make me any real money, of course. I covered about half my tier last month, which I expect puts me somewhere in the middle of the bell curve for SL business ventures. But it's good practice to develop a product to full release status in any case. And it lends my tinkering an air of legitimacy.

I decided to co-opt an old build (pre-remodel version, for comparison) for the purpose. One evening, I realized that I hadn't even entered it for a couple months. (Not a good thing when you're paying tier to keep the prims around.) But glom a couple more floors onto the bottom, and it becomes a fully functional floating boutique kind of thing. Maybe not the best approach, but it makes me feel like I wasn't wasting the prims all this time, anyway. And the semi-modular floor design makes it easy enough to expand when I need the space.

I'm sure I'll rabbit on more about the various products in the shop at a later date. In the meantime, feel free to drop by if you're the neighborhood. It's tucked in the middle of the Garden of Mo (location link at upper right).
